At this point, I don't think it's "selling out" so much as "trying to get his first hot meal in years".

Nominal - 2013-11-23

Isn't Californication still on?

Sudan no1 - 2013-11-23

How DARE you dogshame Mulder.

Bort - 2013-11-24

I've heard a lot of actors love voiceover work. You can dress in flip-flops, there's no makeup, it's pretty relaxed. It's work you can literally phone in a lot of the time.

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-23

I'd love to be the voice for a talking, or thought speech commercial like this, they wouldn't have to ask twice! It's my favorite Dog food too.

RikkiTikki - 2013-11-23

oh Boomer, Pedigree is so bad for you! yucky stuff in that food.

fedex - 2013-11-23

yeah, you should really start eating Blue Buffalo or something healthier

will kenderdine - 2013-11-23

Why do we try to force the dogs to "eat healthy"? My dogs love nothing better than to knock over the kitchen trash can, rip into all the nausiatingly nasty garbage in there, eat what they want, and distribute the rest of the partially chewed bits around the living room. Party Town USA for these dogs. Will they live a month or two longer if I keep them out of the garbage (good luck!!) and feed them vegetarian dog chow?

RikkiTikki - 2013-11-23

is that you, Mama June?

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-23

That's what people say a lot. I started with my Dog Pongo's food when I was about 13, it was there and I was feelin' like a Dog. It was Vets brand, for 19 cents a can, and mostly water and corn meal it seemed, no chunks or anything like that, came out solid like Spam or canned cranberries, just not as wiggly. 'Splork'

Boomer,

I use to work at a dog food factory in some low times of my life. I'd love to hear your opinion on Milk Bones.

Mostly, because the machine that produced them literally looked like a Hell Mouth.

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-23

Pooches should eat healthier, they are always 'young' and don't know any better, so it's up to the owners. Not all Dogs are slobs either, my American Eskimo Yoder was really good about staying out of the trash, somehow he just seemed to be more refined. He was also the only 4 legged Dog here, that might help.

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-23

I think that Milk Bones are just really dry hard cookies, with not much flavor to them. I'll gnaw on one once in a while at the TV, not really into them, but the point is, I do have a supply always around. You can soften them by putting them in a zipper bag with a slice of bread, I've tried that.

I think that all food factories gross me out to bark the truth, especially ones that deal in animal products. It's cool that you could take that job.

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2013-11-23

I know I should be grossed out by this exchange, but somehow I'm not.
Has the internet desensitized me to Anthros, or is Boomer just the exception?

EvilHomer - 2013-11-24

I can confirm Boomer's review of Milkbones. I used to eat those things when I was a kid, and they're just hard, dry, flavourless cookies with the consistency of compacted sawdust. Have you ever eaten hardtack? It's basically that.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-11-25

Boomer, I have a question. Wouldn't dogs prefer human food anyway? Given a choice, my dog would sure as hell prefer a steak over dry food in a bowl. Why not just eat human food and be content with that? Does it help you bond with your struggling domestic canine brothers?

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-26

Anthros are pretty weird, but that's the cool thing, everyone can take it to their own level.

I eat more Human food, I just have Dog food when I want to get closer to the Canine feeling. It might seem typical to like collars, tags and Dog food, but I associate those Dog things with being a Dog.

Maybe one day I'll get to the point where I don't need to have that stuff around, but I don't see other Dogs outgrowing it.. :)

David Duchovny's been the voice of Pedigree since at least the mid-2000s. And he has a great voice, why not?

Old_Zircon - 2013-11-23

Voiceover work pays really well.

sasazuka - 2013-11-23

Well, yeah, David Duchovny's just following in the footsteps of Lorne Greene after BONANZA, doing commercials for a major pet food brand, although Greene's ALPO commercials had him on-camera most of the time. Pet food brands are major national and international advertisers, so getting a steady gig as their spokesperson isn't anything to be ashamed of. If Duchovny was doing local ads for Crazy Habib's Off-Brand Electronics Hole-In-The-Wall, I could understand the stigma, but not a top-tier pet food brand.

Also, I think David Duchovny voluntarily stepped down from being an A-Lister after X-FILES (and during X-FILES for a couple of seasons) because he chose being close to his family over jetting across the globe doing shoots and then promoting those movies.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-11-23

If someone tossed hundreds of thousands of dollars at me to say three sentences, I'd "sell out" too. And dude, it's Pedigree dog food. This isn't even remotely embarrassing or unique or funny.

BorrowedSolution - 2013-11-23

Actually, what struck me is that if you close your eyes and just listen to this out of context, it's really fun.

Tagging/titling and describing it for some cheap trolling laughs is just the icing on the cake. But seriously, just close your eyes and listen to the clip a few times. Imagine it's Mulder talking. Imagine all the people, rubbing David Duchovny's tummy.

Bort - 2014-01-23

That Mulder thing really works well. I figure it would be early in season one, when Scully still thinks Mulder is a flake rather than an underappreciated genius, and he's explaining his unconventional diet to her.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-11-23

Skully, aliens turned me into a dog. Rub my belly.

Nominal - 2013-11-23

Just kidding.

About the first part, not the second.

Boomer The Dog - 2013-11-23

Excellent, I'd like to see that, it would be great if the voice audio could be extracted from the video, and used on its own that way, that could make for a funny bit, especially if combined from some X-Files dialog.

Chancho - 2013-11-23

I gots to work pulling cable and laying pipe and this asshole gets paid just saying shit? Fuck him!

yogarfield - 2013-11-24

you get paid to pull cable and lay pipe, the fuck are you complaining about? (heh heh heh heh heh)

Toenails - 2013-11-23

Stella would be rolling over in her grave if she knew about this.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-11-25

One of the least depressing commercials you could do a voiceover for.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-11-29

What's depressing about getting paid to do voice work? Most actors would kill for that.

Also, I'm pretty sure he can live off what he made on TV for life.
