I had this on my C-64 back in the day. It came with a map of London. I think you were supposed to collect pieces of a song from your band members who would be at X location and you had to know how to drive there.

It was like having to play the same, boring mission in GTA, minus the guns, and no quest marker to tell where the hell you were supposed to go.

Sup GMRFBS-on-the-C64 bro. I got bored and started looking for glitches, and figured out how to drive off road. I drove through Hyde Park, then over the Thames and into Buckingham Palace. No easter eggs, sadly.

The best part of the game design, besides looping "Band on the Run" so it gets stuck in your brain forever, is the endgame where you're presented a mixing console and no instructions and told to mix the album, just like Abbey Road does in real life. And when you finish, the game just ends, no win screen or anything. So I think I won it a few times, but it's possible I didn't, because there's no way to tell.

The way it forced you to learn the London undergound makes it as close as anyone ever got to "Mornington Crescent, the Video Game"

THAT'S what it reminded me of! I was thrown because they appear to be using the Tudor Court Rules instead of standard Mornington Crescent play.

Five for the music

I only had a Vic-20 at the time, but I'm one of those weird kids that might have liked the game, both because I had visited London in the recent past when this game was released and because I was always a sperg for maps, and this had maps with accurate Tube stations!

On a tangent, the PS4 could do a lot worse than bring back THE GETAWAY (completely absent on the PS3), where the London of the game wasn't 100% accurate but still was based enough in reality for me to totally sperg at its scope and detail.

Achingly beautiful.
