you're on camera, fatass, take your fucking hands out of your pockets

Hooker - 2013-10-30

Sure, the skit may not have the slightest bit of comedic timing or delivery, but they added that music, so it's all good.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-10-30

The real bonus of Obamacare is how batchit crazy it's driven all the right-wing assholes I cross paths with on a daily basis.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-11-01

I think single payer healthcare would have me excited. As is there is too much bureaucratic bullshit for my taste.

Why is there no cap on premiums for the middle class? Why are millions of people being forced to drop their coverage that they could afford and choose something three times as expensive?

There are some people who will benefit from this but not nearly enough.

Bort - 2013-11-01

"I think single payer healthcare would have me excited."

Provide the sort of Congress willing to pass it first. We were one Democratic Senator away from a public option, which would have offered all the benefits of single payer; then Martha Coakley failed to win Ted Kennedy's old seat, and the 2010 election knocked a filibuster-proof majority way out of the Democrats' reach.

"Why is there no cap on premiums for the middle class?"

I don't have an answer on that one. There are supposed to be caps but they've been delayed a year and I'm not sure why.

"Why are millions of people being forced to drop their coverage that they could afford and choose something three times as expensive?"

Dude, you have to stop taking your talking points from the Republicans. The long and short of it is, while people are being forced to move to more expensive insurance, it's better insurance, and the government will cover some or all of the premium depending on your income, so it still works out to a better bargain.

And people are being forced strictly because the insurance companies are changing or canceling old plans -- it's within the insurance companies' power to continue old plans without any changes, but they are choosing not to.

Merzbau - 2013-10-30

Okay, so let's see. This is:
1. Parodying ads that haven't been off the air in four years.
2. Presumably employing a Michael Moore lookalike, who is, ha! FAT! OH MY GOD MY SIDES. Sicko, the last remotely relevant Michael Moore movie that anyone gave a shit about, came out six years ago. Fatty McButtertits here looks more like Jonah Goldberg, and guess what, guys? He's all yours.
3. An unfunny piece of shit, cf: all conservative "humor" ever

But yeah, by all means, go get that youth vote, champ!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-31

For those who are interested, the RNC channel has a few more of these things.

Millard - 2013-10-31

What's even the point of advertising against the ACA at this point? Kinda like campaigning against gay marriage - that goose seems well and truly cooked at this point.

chairsforcheap - 2013-10-31

cute, you know nothing of addiction

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-31

I think at this point its about trying to keep brand loyalty from eroding even more like a sandcastle made of sugar in a thunderstorm.

American Standard - 2013-10-31

They'll be vociferously against it for another 10-20 years or so. Then, when the voting block they're trying to appeal to is finally dead, and everyone uses it and benefits from it, they'll try to take credit for it.

TheOtherCapnS - 2013-10-31

Name/comment synergy

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-31

I dunno, American Standard. They're pretty set on cutting medicare and medicaid, aren't they?

Hooker - 2013-10-31

I think my favourite part is the mic noise when they talk. Just a top-notch production all around.

Old_Zircon - 2013-10-31

I'm glad you made me go back and rewatch it, I missed that the first time. they've also got the microphones really poorly places so you can hear the ugly, untreated room acoustics in whatever repurposed office they recorded this in. Also the free Cable Up microphone that came with my four track in 1995 sounds as good as whatever they're using.

TheOtherCapnS - 2013-10-31

My favorite part is the word salad that is the entire ad, which doesn't even flirt with addressing a single salient point about healthcare in our country. I bet this commercial cost more to make than many people make in a year.

ashtar. - 2013-10-31

They're making an insightful, nuanced commentary on how government is fat and bad.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-10-31

Well this changes everything! I used to be FOR Obamacare, but now I just don't know!

Raggamuffin - 2013-10-31

I don't understand, is the thin guy the entire private sector of everything? Or just private sector health insurance? If he's private sector health insurance, why does he owe Obamacare money?

This is what happens when a political party alienates Jews and also Hollywood and then tries it's hand at media production.

il fiore bel - 2013-10-31

I can't believe LOLGOP isn't linked yet.

jaunch - 2013-11-01

I have often wondered why there are no conservative comedy shows like The Daily Show. Is it because making fun of conservatives is inherently funnier somehow? I can't believe that, but yet it's been almost 20 years and we've never seen an actually funny conservative version.

What's going on?

Nominal - 2013-11-01

Humor is about exposing folly and hypocrisy.

Conservatives are a perpetual motion machine of cognitive dissonance.

Bort - 2013-11-01

What Nominal said. While it would be possible to do conservative humor, they're much happier trying to ram talking points down people's throats and not thinking about how little of it makes sense.

"Community" does a fine job of showing liberal do-gooderness taken to extremes, so it's not that it can't be done. It's just that conservatives aren't the ones to do it.

Hailey2006 - 2013-11-04

Why are Conservatives so behind on the times, when it comes to memes!
