Typical Republican attitude.

"We don't want any 'outsiders' telling us what to do!"

An "outsider" is, of course, anyone who is not exactly like themselves.

Why do these people still agree to do interviews with the Daily Show? Have they never seen the show before?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-26

Why do they keep using Twitter, Facebook, email, or any other medium that's hard to cover up when they eventually embarrass themselves?

I also think there's an odd "I can say what I want" attitude going on at the moment, thanks to the MRA, the Fox News echo-chamber, the Tea Party, etc. which isn't really as safe as some of these people seem to think. I am glad they can still do in their own careers, and it's nice to see the GOP has enough shame to call people like him out on this stuff.

Here's what the guy said in a follow-up interview:

"Everybody and their brother told me, 'They're going to make fun of you,'" he notes. "I don't think we can run from the people that disagree with us. If you're not willing to talk to people you disagree with, then you're never going to accomplish anything. So that's why I agreed to take the interview."

For which I suppose I can give him a little credit, I suppose.

He also said "To tell you the truth, there were a lot of things I said that they could've made sound worse than what they put up”

Just wow. This guy never heard of the rule that you never admit to political shenanigans and he's a politician. Maybe he's on painkillers or something that makes you lose your internal editor.

memedumpster - 2013-10-26

He wanted to get caught.
And lose his job.
And entertain the shit out of me.
Apparently.

his piggy little face!

Aasif handled this beautifully, but I wish Jason Jones had this one. His seething contempt of people such as this, that has risen up more visibly in the past year, would have been great with this man.
