Needs a "Warrior cats" tag.

I assume the blood and gore is an accurate depiction of the series, I've never been tempted to read it.

EvilHomer - 2013-10-15

I've never read them, either, but having worked in a book store before, I've got more than enough familiarity with the series to say that yes. Yes, the blood and gore is accurate.

It's basically a violent, 3dgy angst-fest for ten year old boys, only with kitties.

Here's an excerpt from one of CommonSenseMedia's characteristically grim reviews:

----------------

"Pretty much every fight ends with every character involved bleeding from at least one gash, and on a few occasions cats have had their throats slit or torn open and bleed to death. And those are some of the average moments. The series goes on to feature cats having their eyes clawed out, getting run over by cars, being crippled, bleeding to death while giving birth, getting mauled by dogs, being ripped open and left to bleed to death nine times, being slaughtered by an Ax Crazy mountain lion, impaling a mountain lion with a stalactite, falling off cliffs and breaking their necks, getting crushed by trees, having their tails removed, having a wooden stake driven into their throat, drowning in a series of dark tunnels which they are forced to wander for all eternity, bleeding heavily from gashes in their stomachs, being tortured by extremely bloody nightmares, slowly bleeding to death after being severely wounded by a beaver's teeth, hearing another cat screaming in agony as his stomach is ripped open offscreen, etc."

Many of my students (11-12 year old boys) read this shit. Thanks for the info.

3 stars for someone using the term "offscreen" in a review of a book.

2 more because it's probably totally reasonable to use it.

This reminds me of the dreadful mspaint Blackblood Alliance videos that were on here a while ago.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-10-15

Imo. The song.. Its fairly prosaic and meh + has an amateur production sound. But, apart from that its a solidly written piece and the singing is ok.

EvilHomer - 2013-10-15

It's a bit too much like Linkin Park for my tastes, but I'm really digging the synth. Totally bossa nova. It's like Linkin Park as interpreted by a chiptune band.

EvilHomer - 2013-10-15

Oh, shit, it's Hadouken. So yeah, chiptune Linkin Park, that's exactly what it is.

themilkshark - 2013-10-15

God Linkin Park is got to be on the world's worst worst bands list, somewhere above Linkin Park but below Sum 41

Old_Zircon - 2013-10-15

I think this song could sound a lot better with some additional compression on the entire mix, as long as the compressor was set right.

I'd recommend this as a starting point:

Ratio: 100:1
Threshold: -120db
Attack: .01ms
Release: 500ms

but the threshold could probably come down another 30 or 40 DB at least.

I remember the year of the Linkin Park Sum 41 Blink 182 Conjunction.

Those were times of great struggle, pain, and little hope. There was no food, and the beasts feasted on our young when night would fall. There was little chance for survival among us, we who traveled the Velvet Underground, and we hid our New York Dolls torques in the cellars, hoping that their henchman would not find them when they pillaged our mp3 collections, their yahoo scripts drenched in the blood of The Descendants.

Boomer The Dog - 2013-10-15

Zircon, I think that your release is too slow, 50 ms would probably do it justice, then follow that with a hard clipper, which is what they really do in songs.

I recall that when all digital music came out, like if your synth was just playing something back that was recorded, why anyone would need compression on top of it, if every instrument was perfectly reproduced to begin with. Why create the perfect wave and then additionally smash it?

I get it now, but then it didn't make sense, I could only see compression needed in unruly analog sound.
