FABIO - 2013-09-21 I swear all the fans of this show are either under 20 or over 50. They're either kids too young to know the show is laughing AT people like them (or they're too young to have tired nerd jokes seem played out yet), or they're people too old to have used the internet that much to be familiar with nerds so all the dungeons and dragons jokes seem amazing and fresh.
I don't know a single person 21-49 who likes this show.

Kiss my ass, all of you. I need at least one tame predictable sitcom to stare at the way cavemen stared into their campfire and this is my current favorite.
It's like a meal of corndogs & onion rings for my poor tired brain.

Psych and Burn Notice were my go to's for insomnia curing nights of mildly amusing but not too stimulating pre-bedtime rituals.

Nominal - 2013-09-21 Yeah autism and missing social queues are really the only jokes that work on this show. Unfortunately the other 80% is the lowest hanging old hat nerd joke garbage: dungeons & dragons! video games! Lives with overbearing Jewish mother!
Come to think of it, it would be a lot better if they just got rid of the lives with mom character.

The "nerd blackface" thing is pretty off. I guess I'd describe the "meh" I get from this show is that, to anyone actually connected to nerd culture in any way, all these jokes were played out over a decade ago.
Watching people like my parents laugh at BBT is like a time machine to 1996 where I watch myself laugh at the Star Wars scene in Clerks.

I'm sorry, but this scene is a classic Brit-com "character says/does something to make the situation awkward" joke. This scene only suffers because it is edited, timed and performed FOR an American laugh track.
Not trying to be a BBT apologist, just saying...

Bort - 2013-11-20 And on top of that, it's not even material that lends itself to awkwardness. n-1 of the people in the room would have felt it was a harmless but obvious observation, the only other person could have just shrugged or grunted or even asked for further explanation. He could have said "which reminds me, there's a new Mexican restaurant at E 36th and Vine" and it would have been exactly as workable a joke.
