I never really watched Arsinio. Was his schtick *really* only just asking celebs to respond to quotes from others, or are the Vanilla Ice, Segal and Clay examples outliers?
Arsenio Hall didn't last for a very long time. I credit it to his lack of adaptability in a format that generally requires you be nice to the people you're interviewing.
I mean, it wasn't 60 Minutes. For fuck's sake. It's like Jay Leno grilling people and demanding they explain obscure blurbs. How would that go down? This is a late night show with celebrities, not investigative reporting with slumlords.
The antagonism via this reenactment is really quite staggering.
