I swore off video games years ago, but I do enjoy ordering pizza without standing and having a Microsoft camera pointed at my couch that can't be turned off! I will pay any price for this shiny futuristic VCR!
Well after seeing the massive launch success of the PS3 with its proprietary microprocessor and uncompetitive price point some genius decided to imitate them.
The custom processor is probably why there is no backwards compatibility right now, if ever.

Used games were the only thing keeping console games competitive with PC prices. Once the Steam box comes out, I can't think of a single reason why I'd get a game for a console instead.

Until I was old enough to be employable, 100 percent of the SNES and Sega Genesis titles I've owned came from used game shops, garage sales and trades with friends. Even my SNES was bought used.
It might have been because I grew up in a lower-middle-class neighborhood, but that was practically a way of life for a lot of kids I knew.
