WHY IS WESLEY THERE
Xenocide - 2013-05-19 I don't know what's going on but I'm sure it's his fault.
baleen - 2013-05-20 Wasn't he promoted somewhere at the end of the show?
That guy - 2013-05-20 ROUS, this specific instance of your sexual orientation is NOT OK.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-05-21 I REFUSE TO GO BACK INTO THE CRUSHERSEXUAL CLOSET.
I also refuse to feel shame. I'm badass.
In your face, Dore Street.

I think there's about one episode per season where Data either turns evil or his evil twin brother shows up. Then the entire crew barely prevents him from killing everyone and in the process they realize how completely inadequate they are compared to Data.
Evil Data was just too great a temptation for the writing staff to resist.
Cube - 2013-05-20 Brent Spiner must've had a special contract where he got to play all other kinds of parts at least once in a season.
Including the stupid-voiced outlaw in Worf and Alexander's holodeck Western.
And the stupid-voiced messenger of the mystical space spirit Masaka.
Or the... Well, it seemed Spiner only had one other voice, that he used whenever data was possessed, reprogrammed or just zapped in the circuits.
Jane Error - 2013-05-20 I agree--Spiner must have had something in his contract that insisted that he had opportunities to show his range as an actor, as he was known for being a good mimic.
Which was a big mistake. As gentle, quiet Data, Spiner was superlative, but his other characters in TNG always came off as goofy and clownish.

Yeah, let's have a super long voice code for key commands. I'm sure that won't pose problems to swiftly acting in a crisis.
And it's way safer than having the computer scan the person speaking and confirm they aren't just using a tape-recorder.
Gmork - 2013-05-19 you think that isnt happening at the same time? it is
The Great Hippo - 2013-05-19 I think the point was to render it (basically) impossible for anyone to undo what Data just did.
Also this whole extended scene should be submitted, it's basically Data owning everyone's shit.
gmol - 2013-05-19 I guess they never invented reasonably good computer vision/face recognition in the 2Xth century...
EvilHomer - 2013-05-19 BUT ONLY WITH A COMPUTER. You can't brute force a password like that without a computer, and the crew was locked out of said computer, so there.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-05-20 Fran Drescher was in Star Trek?
Actually, Fran Drescher in alien makeup would be a way better show than Voyager.

Spoilers: Geordi was able to get the system to reset the password by answering "What is the name of your pet?"
badideasinaction - 2013-05-19 The really awkward part was when the answer was "Wesley"...

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-05-19
He should have used upper and lowercase letters and special characters!
Aelric - 2013-05-20
You know, they had to forgive Data for a lot of things, quite often.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-05-20 To be fair, Starfleet gave them the okay to dismantle Data and essentially kill him, but the trial for his existence probably embarrassed their whole morality code of "respecting everyone" so after that every time he went haywire and accidentally almost killed everyone he just got a slap on the wrist.
Let's hear it for biohumanoid guilt.
kingarthur - 2013-05-20 Data brought up that shit every time he malfunctioned.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-05-21 REMEMBER THAT TIME YOU FUCKERS TRIED TO ENSLAVE ME AND DISMANTLE ME UH HUH I THOUUUUUUGHT SO
badideasinaction - 2013-05-20
I'm just wondering what writer's Easter egg there was in that code, or was Data just spewing random alphanumerical stuff.
