Mid-engined supercars, especially Ferraris, tend to split in two when in major wrecks. This one in particular, there has to be story behind- it clearly wasn't attempting to make that corner, and if it was, something was massively wrong.

SolRo - 2013-05-16 looks like he was still racing while most of the other cars were slowing down, and he swerved at the last second to avoid one, but lost traction.

SolRo - 2013-05-16 in terms of crash dynamics, this car seems like it did fine, the most important part stayed intact and didn't deform noticeably. Everything else is a crumple zone/sacrificial in terms of crash safety.

Hooker - 2013-05-16 The sport I watch is ice hockey. In ice hockey, there is serious uproar about concussions. Radical changes are proposed and implimented into the game to reduce the levels of concussions. And it's considered neck-and-neck with American football as the most violent team sport out there.
I wonder if professional racing gives a lot of consideration to their insanely violent accidents and the types of injuries they cause.
