Okay, now I get it. There was an old "Pinky and the Brain" with a scheme involving a Las Vegas casino, and the Brain kept pushing Baccarat as the thinking man's game. He made a few hand-wavey attempts to explain the rules, and I would bet (har har) the whole thing was inspired by this video.
