It should also be announced the plot has been announced. Basically, the leader of the Saints is elected President of the United States, and is then abducted by Aliens, and needs to use newfound superpowers to defeat them

StanleyPain - 2013-03-21

That is fucking awesome.

CornOnTheCabre - 2013-03-21

I was always afraid that the Saint's Row series had hit peak insanity, and like GTA did after San Andreas, do some "gritty, realistic reboot" that bored the crap out of everyone. OR, even worse, completely plateau and keep finding dumb new reasons to reset your influence from the past games and fight three gangs in different cities until the franchise bled to death.

i'm excited that this installment seemingly makes Metal Wolf Chaos look like an especially dry PBS documentary. and how, really, the only place they have to go from here is TURF WAR WITH GOD

StanleyPain - 2013-03-21

BTW, I know this is in the hopper, but I figured it's not making it out, so I'll just post it up. Sorry Maru and Chocolate Jesus!!

Spaceman Africa - 2013-03-21

This is a total reverse GTA 4

Blue - 2013-03-21

I hope this one lets you choose what kind of genitals you have independent of your sex.

Gmork - 2013-03-21

Oh, blue

Hooker - 2013-03-21

Blue is starting to challenge Xenocide as my favourite poeTV user of all time.

chumbucket - 2013-03-21

up a notch

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-03-21

That looks fun. I don't understand any of it, but it looks fun.

misterbuns - 2013-03-21

A good number of people voted this down. Are they gen-xers?

StanleyPain - 2013-03-21

Chocolate Jesus, Maru, and a few others I guess are mad that we were slightly mean to them, so now they downvote everything in the hopper that has up votes from certain regulars, from what it seems. Oh well....

memedumpster - 2013-03-21

When Chocolate Jesus votes something down, it's the same as voting for Mitt Romney.

Chocolate Jesus - 2013-03-21

I can't see which videos in the hopper are yours, dummy.

If you really believe my down votes are a declaration of bad taste then you should enjoy it when I rate your videos poorly.

misterbuns - 2013-03-21

so mad!

StanleyPain - 2013-03-21

Both of you contribute to the site, which is good, but you're infantile little boyfriend/girlfriend thing of downvoting almost every video (including ones that even dovetail with shit you guys have submitted), is dumb. I don't know what we did to upset you so much (except maybe disagree with you about something somewhere), but you could grow the fuck up about whatever it is.
I thought this was worth generating some discussion around here, so I took the super-rare liberty of just bypassing the hopper.

Chocolate Jesus - 2013-03-22

I don't hold grudges and express my rage in the hopper, I just downvote shitty videos. I didn't know they were all yours, I'm sorry.

Maru - 2013-03-22

HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-22

Why is this a shitty video? Please elaborate.

Maru - 2013-03-22

I had this argument on the Borderlands 2 trailer. It's just an advertisement, and for a game series I think really stinks, no less. If it generates a discussion about the game, fine, whatever.

I wasn't even going to come on here and bash it or anything, until StanleyPain's freakout. I have a page and a half of downvotes, and four pages of upvotes. I'm not some malicious downvoting asshole.

Quad9Damage - 2013-03-21

I hate to say this, but I got tired of "Saints Row the Third." I played it long enough to have only three Achievements remaining and then I just drifted away. It's hard to put into words why I find it dull now...it's like the game hands you a whole bunch of neat gadgets and cool ways to murder people, but there's something missing, something that should be there to hold it all together. All flash, no substance?

Superheroes, though. That could be cool.

La Loco - 2013-03-21

I feel the same way. This looks like it should be called Serious Sams Row. To me SR has jumped the shark.

Hooker - 2013-03-21

I enjoyed it, but Saints Row 2 was by far the better game. The third went way overboard on the zaniness, effectively killing that aspect of it.

Quad9Damage - 2013-03-22

There was either way too much zaniness, or the zaniness was hit- and-miss. I'd already had fun beating people with a dildo eight years prior, in a game called "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas." Killing hordes of furries is funny maybe once or twice. Same goes for listening to the AutoTuned tracheotomy pimp.

I understand that lots of people flock to these games because Rockstar has a major hard-on for making "Grand Theft Auto" 'serious' and 'real' now. Hell, they've stated that they're intentionally taking the fun out of driving fast in GTAV. But what Volition failed to understand with SR3 is that those PS2-era GTAs we loved had a working balance between fun mayhem and sobering poignancy. If GTAIV was one extreme, SR3 was the other: an M-rated Nickelodeon cartoon.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-22

"Hell, they've stated that they're intentionally taking the fun out of driving fast in GTAV."

Where? Source please.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-22

This was what I read: Describing the way driving will feel in “GTA 5,” Dan Houser states that “the cars hold to the ground a bit better. We thought they were big and boatlike in GTA IV, and we feel like it has really leaped forward because we're able to run a little more physics on them. There are not a lot of high level racing games out there at the moment, and that itch is going to be scratched by this game in a way maybe it hasn't been in previous GTAs.”

Of course it could easily be a bunch of bullshit but it seems idiotic that they would say "WE ARE MAKING DRIVING IN GTA 5 SUCK BECAUSE LOLZ!!!1 :D "

Quad9Damage - 2013-03-22

I seem to remember reading the 'driving fast will suck' part in the early GameInformer preview from last year. But I also did some Googling this morning and read a GTA wiki article that had the same quote you posted. I wasn't thinking Houser would tweak driving to intentionally make it suck and piss people off; it's just Houser is on his "100% like reality" kick right now.

Quad9Damage - 2013-03-22

It might have been something more along the lines of "there will be more consequences for driving fast."

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-22

I didn't like GTAIV, the tone was spastic and all over the place, there was very little to do outside of the story missions and the story itself, beyond the very 1st part, just went on and on and lacked focus.

I don't have a problem with it "being serious", but rather how it was specifically executed in GTAIV. I actually enjoyed both of the expansions to the game, and I loved Red Dead Redemption, which was "serious" but really good in almost every way. What I've seen of 5 looks very promising: not overtly bombastic but definitely not "gloomy serious" either.

Maru - 2013-03-22

But Red Dead Redemption didn't have hardly anything to do outside of the story missions.

Adham Nu'man - 2013-03-25

Maru, I spent a lot of my time in RDR outside of the story missions. Exploring, hunting, gambling, doing side missions, those forts with the gangs, doing the co-op stuff online, and more.
