the first ten minutes are indistinguishable from an actual documentary on jam bands

That's what makes it work. It slips in the last half hour or so, but the first hour is probably the most true to the source mockumentary I've ever seen that didn't have Christopher Guest in it.

I had very low expectations for this but I was pleasantly surprised. And I can't stand Jam Bands (even though I like a lot of the original generation of bands they were inspired by).

Proper mockumentary, and so much of it is entirely believable. Of course I have my confirmation bias disliking jam bands, but still.

Preview says: "I burned my scrotum, and it was moderately severe."

what, didja learn that in the sixth grade, or somethin'?

I have yet to watch this, but I love Les Claypool. Primus was a definite building block for me during my teen years. He's a hardworking man, but I'm not too sure about him being a reluctant figure in the jam band scene. Those crowds of people, horrible though they might be, really drink up what a lot of the bands he has going have to offer. Hearing cheers are still cheers no matter where they come from. That being said, I will think he is on a whole other level than pretty much anyone in the biz.

"Skeptical" is probably a more accurate way to put it. The impression I've gotten from the few interview snippets I've stumbled on is that he's more impressed with the enthusiasm of the fans than the quality of most of the music. OR maybe I'm just projecting what I imagine I would feel in his place.
