It's sad when you have to actually ban something that no one should be wearing in public anyway. And why do furries think they have the right to display their sexual fetish freely in public, especially around kids? Not to sound like a prude, but I don't want to see people walking around in bondage leathers or covered in fecal matter either. So why should fur suits be any different?

I was not aware that furries are a big problem in Enfield, but I am not surprised.
Back in the early naughties, there was a lot of commotion here in CT about people wearing costumes in public. A group of kids from Trumbull (one of our rich, white areas) started a rap rock musical collective / yuppie street gang called the Downriver Killers, which, thanks to our generous network of private art schools and community colleges, soon spread to various other towns in the southern CT. Think juggalos with trust funds. They wore stupid Slipknot-style masks and mostly hung around local businesses, getting stoned and freestyle battling with the native Puerto Ricans.
Anyway, this was not long after 9/11, and apparently convenience store owners were getting kinda jumpy around teenagers dressed like the dudes from Army of Two. So we passed a bunch of laws banning costumes that obscure people's faces from places of business and certain public areas. There were many tears. A bunch of kids protested. Then for awhile, I think they turned into a cult; I remember this one guy telling me how his mask was actually a spiritual totem and that, by taking it away, the local cops were violating his freedom of religion and jeopardizing his astral devil karma or something. He had real creepy eyes. Never blinked.
Not sure what happened to them after that, since I was too busy with work and school to keep track, but I'm sure this furry crackdown is related.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-03-03 I count possibly only one female in that photo. And one poor attempt at "jazz hands."

EvilHomer - 2013-03-03 Jazz hands is the official CT gang sign!
That, and the Latin Kings one.

So they were exactly like juggalos.

SexualBasalt - 2013-03-03 And I'm willing to bet the one who told you about the mask was the DM I'm referencing. He was a strange fellow.

EvilHomer - 2013-03-03 Probably was the same guy. I don't remember his name, but IIRC he played D&D a lot. "Nigger" sounds familiar, too, although the DRK members I hung out with called a lot of people "Nigger", on account of their also being down with the White Wolves, Stratford's premier neoNazi hate group. And yeah, now that I think about it, most of them were probably just white trash kids; I only knew a handful of DRK kids personally, and their parents were loaded as hell, but they may have been the exception.
Fuckin a, it's a small, crazy world! I figured I was the only person on earth who still remembered those guys; I am both pleased, and a little disheartened, to see I was wrong. Maybe we could have a Horrible New England Week?

I don't think that fursecution on line really means too much, since if you're thrown off of a site or disrespected, there's nothing stopping you from finding another site or building one yourself.
In a local community though, not as good, maybe Furries are about to break out and are going to have to stand up for themselves more.
