I guess I like the idea that game collectors HAVE to buy all this shit for the sake of completion.

Oh man, watch it all the way through with all your lights off and the sound cranked and the heat turned up to about 90 degrees and your fridge and freezer open and all of your faucets turned on and a very thin layer of corn chips spread evenly on every flat surface in your home and the blender and microwave running full blast and a half a bottle of hair gel in your hair to get the full experience.

What the fuck?

It's true.

What a coincidence...

Be sure to five-star Zerobackup's comment or you're robbing yourself of the true power of Frantic Flea.

And his...you know...his constant spinning.

It's really something how every last dev back in the day, even one-shot no name devs, made a shitty platformer. They outnumbered like every other type of game combined during the 16-bit era. Now they're only released once in a blue moon, an all but dead genre.

Nowadays we have the same phenomenon, but with first person shooters.

Platformers aren't quite dead, they've just migrated to the indie scene, where they're thriving pretty well.

As far as mainstream publishers go, though, it's pretty much just Mario for platformers these days. But a Mario platformer is pretty much guaranteed to move five million units in its first six months, so you have to wonder if there isn't still demand for the genre.
