That's actually the only part of it that makes sense. They don't really know why these things are happening. They don't know why the government would do this. That's really rare in the world of conspiracy theories and delusions.

As for why the government would do it, I suspect it's basically the shadow government's version of all those tanks congress wants to buy even though the military is saying we have too many tanks and not enough money and they are selling tanks to other countries to meet their budgets. I think the guy that makes pneumatic chemistry weapons and microwave brain transmitters is well connected and has funded a lot of shadow campaigns. Shadow Congress sees it as a way to line their own pockets while reducing shadow unemployment.

That actually makes a lot of sense. And now that I think about it, the vast majority of "big" conspiracy theories are pretty much completely unconcerned with the why.

The purpose of conspiracy theories is not to answer why, it is to give some shape and definition to the constant stream of daily events that might otherwise lead one to conclude that we live in a world where no one is really in total control, and even the most powerful people are operating with incomplete information and limited resources.

It's all a leap of faith, in the end. Conspiracy theories are a belief in a higher (albeit malevolent) power.

The conspiracy theory also skips over the bigger why, which is usually "why does my life suck?" The conspiracy allows them to not only inflate their egos, that they're important enough to "target," but that their not getting ahead at work or not trying to improve their lot is the fault of someone else, not them.

The writers at cracked have made it pretty clear from time to time that they've settled on that format simply because it seems to be the preferred format of their target audience.

Well I do enjoy going around Youtube and just watching videos of people because, oh man, people are just so damn fascinating sometimes. One time, I watched a woman light candles and smile at the camera. And that was a 30 fucking minute video!

But I wouldn't want to have to keep following one person around, because as fascinating as we can be, most of the day we are terribly boring.

I'd imagine you'd be stalking different people every time.

That said, it would be really boring, because most of the stuff that gangstalkers do isn't going to provoke any reaction. You'd pretty much have to have something bad going on mentally to even notice it.

When you overhear a conversation at your favorite restaurant and it's about an electric bill, why would you even think "Oh, my god! They're talking about MY electric bill which didn't arrive! Clearly they stole it!"

Wow! There's a row of blue cars behind me! This is clearly meant to drive me slowly crazy!

I was surprised and disappointed to find out that there are no how to guides for gangstalking people. Seems like it would be really easy to get discouraged, given that you've got to do it for months or years and your victim may not ever notice you're doing it.

As I have found out, being a gangstalker is supposedly a job you are hired to do without being told. You are paid 0 dollars for this work. Even if you did know you were a gangstalking employee, you would deny it anyways.

Admitting to being a gangstalking employee is just a formality, because the victims of your stalking already knew that.
