This is breaking new ground in the "you can't make this shit up" category of humor.

Nice to see Trump personally hires lawyers as nuts as he is.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-02-09

The "lawyer" could just be Trump's sock puppet.

I mean, the lawyer could LITERALLY be a sock with googly eyes Trump wears on his left hand.

I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, if Trump is doing it as a joke, well, I'm not that offended, and that would make Maher the guy who doesn't get it. I've never thought of Bill Maher as very smart since seeing him on Celebrity
Jeopardy. Swoosie Kurtz destroyed him. And how could Trump possibly be serious?

But then I remember that this is Donald Trump. And Maher is correct to play it like this, because it's funnier.

If the lawsuit doesn't succeed, Trump might want to seek compensation as a staff member for writing Maher's jokes.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-02-09

If Trump were taking it as a joke and rolling with it he would have just released the birth certificate and given a public quote like "You know where to find me when you want to pay up."

But he didn't. He is actually using the courts to sue Maher for 5 MILLION DOLLARS! (dun dun duuuuuuun!)

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-09

Well, i think that if you're Donald Trump and you want to create a prank, you commit to it. I think anything's possible, and Maher actually made a point of getting serious for second, and saying, in so many words, that "The legal system is not a joke." I think that means that he's considered the possibility that Trump is faking, or, perhaps more likely, willing to pretend that he was faking if he isn't able to bluff Maher into apologizing. Maher is consciously laying the groundwork for making Trump look like an asshole if he tries to walk away,

There have probably been a dozen times when this sort of shenanigans worked in trump's favor. Most people will back down rather than face this level of hassle, because there's no upside for them. But Donald miscalculated this time. For Bill Maher, a bullshit lawsuit from Donald Trump is like hitting the lottery.

When it comes to matching wits with Bill Maher, Donald Trump is no Swoosie Kurtz

You could make this into a 2 1/2 hour movie and not get bored.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-09

I'm usually put off by the whole 'I can barely contain my laughter at the joke I just made' school of comedy favored by Maher (and that TYT guy, and to a lesser degree John Stewart) but this is gold.

shocker: Trump's new season of Celebrity Apprentice is starting up in a couple of weeks

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-02-09

I never watched the show, but why would anyone do so? Unless it's always been about watching a guy whose toupee appears to be burrowing into his brain and consuming it slowly.

I mean, it's like putting Adam Sandler in charge of "Inside the Actor's Studio."

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

I've seen a little by accident. In my opinion, it's not about Trump; it's about the train wreck. It seems like they pick these people for their egos. Imagine Penn Gillete and Gary Busey trying to cooperate on a business venture. What sucks about the show is that it all boils down to Trump's judgment. There's no voting. The Donald pronounces, and it's not always clear why. I think he chose Arsenio Hall over Clay Aiken because he prefers niggers to faggots.
