This has to be my most quoted Simpsons line.

Innocent Bystander - 2013-01-17 It is great, I'm just wondering why this line, out of all the golden age Simpsons lines, seems to stick with people.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-17 It's not crazy at all. It reminds us that, for the Simpsons, this age was truly the blurst of times.

Richard Dawkins wrote a really interesting piece on the "Infinite Monkeys with Typewriters" meme, using it to illustrate the power of Darwinian selection in producing order out of an otherwise random and senseless system. It's a profound bit of work, simple and accessible yet completely compelling, and- at the risk of sounding a bit crazy- quite possibly capable of changing the entire course of human history, if only more people would read it.
Even so, whenever someone mentions monkeys and typewriters, I think about the Simpsons.
