misterbuns - 2012-12-29 Van Sant didn't portray them as being interested in girls. He just showed them hooking up in the shower and then murdering their class. What a boring homophobic faggot. He should have given them thin moustaches and effete british accents while he was at it. Would have really driven the point home.

poopy - 2012-12-29 The only sexual desire that either boy exhibits during the movie was in the shower scene, so I understand what you're saying. But even if they are meant to be gay, I don't think it is designed to explain their desire to murder their peers. I certainly don't remember any scenes where the killers are saying "Well bro we're super gay together and because of that we're gonna shoot up our school." The homosexual encounter in the film doesn't function that way. Plus I think that the director purposefully tried not to explain their motivations any more than "it was bullying." The film added enough material to the Columbine fetish shitfest as it was.

Besides, should we really assume there's a link between GVS being gay and the decision to make his characters gay? Then again, almost ALL of the dudes in Elephant are really effeminate. Maybe he's challenging our perception of heterosexuality or maybe i'm just giving an aging fag too much credit.
