This series got shittier and shittier the more and more Chris Roberts thought he was a script writer.

WC1- Awesome dynamic campaign that affected cutscenes. Story and dialog limited to scuttlebutt.

WC2- Game still decent. Campaign loses branches aspect in service of a linear STORY that was okay.

WC3- Epic FMV greenscreen adventure as Mark Hamil fights muppets. Actual gameplay is a stripped down shooter with less depth than Beachhead 2000.

Now he got to write an actual movie here and it managed to be one of the worst Freddie Prinz Jr flicks ever.

What's funny is William Forstchen wrote two pretty damn good Wing Commander novels, either of which would have made a much better story. The guy is disgustingly Republican but he had a real knack for carrier op details. It was like reading a novelization of the movie Midway, IN SPACE!

What a fascinating read.

it's pretty decent for a matthew lillard flick though

The cartoon was cool back in the day.

Greetings, MrStabby and welcome to poetv. All our positions for "cool story, bro" are currently filled right. Feel free to try back next yet.

Privateer was fun

DriverStabby - 2012-11-14

I say they're filled wrong.

In the Freddie Prinze Jr. corpus I'd say it beats out Scooby-Doo 2: Monster Unleashed but is nowhere near Summer Catch.

Knaaks - 2012-11-14

Saw it opening night because there was a Star Wars Episode 1 Trailer before it. I want to build a time machine to go and beat my self up.

It's probably just nostalgia, but I loved this movie as a kid/teen. Haven't seen it in years though. I think, looking back, that I liked the IDEA of space and exploration more than the story/characters/plot. Of course I was really into Freespace at the time too, so...

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-11-14

Spaceships that were literally old fighter planes with the wings chopped off.

Aliens that were supposed to be lions but were instead shaved hamsters with light-up eyes that went out when they died.

This was just begging for MST3K to take it on. They also blew the entire FX budget on the hyperspace "matrix" spin-in-place effect.

I remember sitting in the theater watching the opening credit sequence crash course in human spaceflight history and thinking this was going to be a cool movie. I was more wrong than I knew I could be at the time.

See, people in the military, traditionally being men, would refer to each other as "ladies" in a jesting manner to lightheartedly challenge the masculinity of their fellow soldiers. As times progressed and women took on many of the same roles in the military, they too would refer to their squad mates as "ladies" or "girls" to continue this tradition in an ironic sense and, of course, use the element of humor present in the fact that they themselves are "ladies."

Awful movie and I'm ashamed to admit I saw it in the theater and paid for it.

chumbucket - 2012-11-14

Even this trailer says terrible. What was I thinking when I went out to see this? I think we all grew up on the awesome game which deluded us in the hope for an amazing theatrical experience. Like the Dad who couldn't come through on the fishing trip.

Old_Zircon - 2013-05-26

I kind of regret not seeing this in the theater. I saw Mac and Me and Judge Dredd and Waterworld at least.
