In a couple of years they will start saying republicans always supported gay marriage. Five for stupid Orwellian evil.

I love the "we must persuade these ungrateful savages" tag.

same here.

Nikon - 2012-11-02

That earned my five stars.

baleen - 2012-11-02

If it were still the party of Teddy and Abe I'd probably vote Republican too.

CJH - 2012-11-02

wait, so the only way they can legitimately say 'republicans passed the civil right act' is by counting the votes for the act, and ignoring the leadership who forced said act to be put to the vote in the first place. so this ad is saying republicans are better followers than leaders? i don't get it.

Bort - 2012-11-02

If you look at the overall vote totals between Democrats and Republicans, the Republicans look like they were bigger supporters of the Civil Rights Act. However, what that glosses over is that the South was almost straight Democratic at the time, so the southern Democratic advantage dragged down the overall totals. But here is a little detail on how the votes went:

The original House version:
Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)

The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5–95%)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)

Both North and South, both House and Senate, Democrats were more in favor of the Ciivl Rights Act than Republicans.

GOP also seems to forget that MLK endorsed and voted for JFK, despite being a Republican.

GEE DO YOU THINK AMERICAN PARTIES CHANGE MUCH OR NO.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-11-02

I sure hope the parties change. I want the dems to be more aggressive and the GOP to be far, far less crazy.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-11-02

Any black folks who participated in the making of this should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

CJH - 2012-11-02

holding people of different races to a different standard is racist, even if you're doing it for 'a good reason'.

Bort - 2012-11-02

To be fair, any white folks who participated in this should be ashamed of themselves too. The fact that blacks would have an additional reason to be ashamed -- that this ad is asking them to operate against their own best interests -- is not racist, just a recognition of the racism.

baleen - 2012-11-02

Fuck shame. The people who made this video should have their skins peeled off and burned. They don't deserve to even have a race.

themilkshark - 2012-11-02

Pathetic, and laughable. Just like Romney.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-11-03

This is absolutely infuriating. If this sways even one person it's a fucking tragedy.
