Yes, yes, you've somehow turned Halloween into a competition wherein you try to make the mundane decorative aspects of the holiday into something EXTREME AND DEEPLY DESCRIPTIVE OF YOU AS A HUMAN BEING, when 20 years ago, adults who got too into Halloween were a fringe group at best.

So thank you for ruining an expression of simple joy, and turning it, like everything else in our culture, into the substitution of your essential humanity for a materialistic concept of individuality as Facebook Novelty, the greatest irony of choosing Halloween to do it being that Halloween is in and of itself a moment of pondering death and decay and the inevitability of it all. But hey, all praise to the eternal present slideshow of your life. You've won Halloween.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-10-30

I bet their wedding had jugglers and chicken on a pizza.

Zoot42 - 2012-10-30

It's just a pumpkin some guy spoofed up a bit for fun, man.

kingofthenothing - 2012-10-30

Hey don't ever show them the Instructables website.

This shit is awesome. It's a fun and functional idea that might bring joy to a few people's lives and inspire others to create some other wonky ideas.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-10-30

No. It isn't.

My genetic predisposition toward Puritanism is sometimes filtered out through a nasty hatred of anybody having any fun whatsoever. I'd apologize but I know I'm not sorry, but I'm at least capable of acknowledging it as a flaw.

The Mothership - 2012-10-30

Booooo adults having fun of any kind!

Gmork - 2012-10-30

The pumpkin itself doesnt really deserve that kind of reaction, but you did touch on something with the "hey look how amazing my life is because of this pumpkin/chainsaw sculpture/flash mob video on my facebook". Guarantee this will become the guy's new facebook timeline image. There is a sort of lame pissing contest between everyone in the world who thinks they're more unique than all the others, and the battleground is usually facebook.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-10-30

Overblown, whiny cynicism takes no effort and still lets people think they're smart.

chumbucket - 2012-10-30

It's pumpkins and lawn scares on Halloween; it's flashing lights and synchronized music on Christmas. It's all the same loopy game of one-upsmanship getting more and more exacerbated by social internet tools. While I find it interesting, sometimes entertaining and a bit sad, I choose not to participate.

joelkazoo - 2012-10-30

Jesus, people! It's just someone who did something fun for Halloween! It's not a renewal of my faith in humanity, it's a fucking pumpkin.

Hooker - 2012-10-30

I've been trying, for at least five years now, to be less cynical. I used to immediately have bad things to say about people I don't know who happened to do something irksome like wear a piece of clothing or use a turn of phrase I don't like, and now I get really annoyed when other people are so flippantly cynical. And yet, I agree with everything cognitivedissonance wrote. I've achieved nothing. Fuck.

Riskbreaker - 2012-10-30

POETV: NO FUN ALLOWED

sosage - 2012-10-30

Apparently in the 201X's, being fun and creative as an adult = being an attention whore.

I liked it. I would have just had NES controllers coming out of it for ease of use...if I had even thought of this idea in the first place.

I know what will cheer you up. Have you seen my Halloween tribute to Boxxy? :)

Also, for those who feel nostalgic for the simple, innocent joy of an earlier time, here's a clip from the 1976 Paul Lynde Halloween special, with Margaret Hamilton and Kiss.

"jugglers and chicken on a pizza" -- take my stars, man.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-10-30

I'm starting to wonder if Clement Greenberg was right. And then I realize that having that thought means I'm instantaneously wrong.

Head bonking rhythmically on the keyboard while "Fear The Reaper" plays on Spotify...

"Kitsch, using for raw material the debased and academicized simulacra of genuine culture, welcomes and cultivates this insensibility. It is the source of its profits. Kitsch is mechanical and operates by formulas. Kitsch is vicarious experience and faked sensations. Kitsch changes according to style, but remains always the same. Kitsch is the epitome of all that is spurious in the life of our times. Kitsch pretends to demand nothing of its customers except their money -- not even their time."

Riskbreaker - 2012-10-31

You must be the life of every party you go.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-10-31

Oh, come on, people! Complaining about how Halloween has gotten all kitschy? Seriously?

Successful troll is successful.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-10-31

If you can hear my prayers, Lord, send a teenage hooligan to smash it.

kingofthenothing - 2012-11-01

I don't know you but I think you're crazy, you should get back on your meds maybe?

We're all fertilizer sooner or later. Everything you've ever done or will do will eventually be forgotten. Even the Universe won't last forever. If you can't take it upon yourself to enjoy one of your few, special, very finite moments now and then, then for the sake of mercy don't piss on the people who do. You're not getting any achievement points for life, none of us are, and even if we were there's no way to redeem them once we're gone.

fourthguy - 2012-10-30

neat

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-10-30

Technopumpkin is the best pumpkin.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-10-30

I was going to make fun of their bad playing, but they seemed to have made it to level 11.

I want to see someone try and play this when the pumpkin has rotted up a bit.

Raggamuffin - 2012-10-30

This is a rad pumpkin
