She will never understand this.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-09-23

Yeah, stick your face in the big dog's face. That's really smart.

kennydra - 2012-09-23

This poor dog has no idea what "get off the bed" means. Well, to him it means "as long as I stay on the bed, my mom will play a fun game with me, talk to me in a funny voice and poke me, pet me, and kiss me. I will stay on the bed and remain goofy because that's what she wants me to do."

There is only one point in this video where the dog shows any indication that he is serious and warning that he might bite her, and that is at 1:44 and it looks like it's more because she touches his paw which lots of dogs don't like.

If this is really what they go through every day, and not just a silly show for youtube, then I feel kind of sorry for the dog and the owner, but they seem to love each other. Hopefully this behavior doesn't escalate with the owner's wishy-washy and confusing attitude.

Seems like a lot of people who get an animal have NO FUCKING IDEA what they're in for, or how to control them. An even more shocking number of people don't realize that dogs don't know English.

I've had mornings like that.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-09-23

That bed belongs to the dog now.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-09-23

Yes. And moreover, the dog wants her to sleep there too. I don't think she understands the dog.

robotkarateman - 2012-09-23

The scritches behind the ear while he's not listening to you certainly don't reward this behavior in any fashion.

"...but, mom, the ground is lava!"

First few seconds: He clearly thinks this is a game. Lots of play-bowing and tail-wagging.

A bit later: Still a game. Except now it's a sing-along.

More circling, tail-wagging and play-bowing. This dog does not take her remotely seriously.

Then, the icing on the cake: The owner kisses and pats him, reinforcing the misconception that this is just goofin' for funsies.

Fuck's sake. This isn't cute. What's she gonna do one day when she REALLY needs the dog to obey a command, like "don't growl at that toddler" or "don't run into freeway traffic?"

Mastiffs and other large breeds need firm owners, and firm boundaries. Making your dog obey you isn't mean, it's just responsible. If you can't handle a big dog, don't get one.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-09-24

Lighten up, you joyless old schoolmarm.

American Standard - 2012-09-24

Yeah, that'd be easier if I didn't work with dogs that got put down literally every single day because their owners couldn't handle them, and essentially ruined them for anyone else.

But no, I'm sure you're right. It's just a dog.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-09-24

If you wag that finger of yours any harder, it's going to fall off.

fedex - 2012-09-24

Dude, seriously. Time for a new job.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-09-24

Talking to your dog like its a person.

The God of Biscuits - 2012-09-29

Aww, come on lady, just let that walrus sleep for another hour or so.
