I already knew that the Onion's MO was to take a good premise, competently expand on it, go dark, then at the end go even darker.
Yet I still wasn't expecting their taking a good premise, competently expand on it, going dark, then at the end go even darker, then go fucking darker.
They build your hopes up by showing them competent and surviving, and the Onion feeds off the tattered remains of hope.
