mothers, don't let your children grow up to be bronies

subduralhematoma - 2012-05-01

remember the good ol' days when nerds were just good at math?

Cena_mark - 2012-05-01

That's why I think the word "Nerd" is often used incorrectly. Nerds use their intellects and time to advance science and technology. These people are not Nerds. They waste their time and intellects on this bullshit. These are dorks and dweebs.

Wonko the Sane - 2012-05-01

these aren't nerds, they're dorks

RocketBlender - 2012-05-02

"Geek" used to be the negative term, until the nerds decided they wanted it back.

These guys aren't nerds, dorks, or geeks. They're just losers.

Xenocide - 2012-05-02

The sad truth is that all negative nerd slurs have been reclaimed. Now what will our nation's jocks shout at the equipment manager?

Wonko the Sane - 2012-05-02

Xenocide: Clap your hands hard enough and it could be true.

I do believe in dorks

I do believe in dorks

I do believe in dorks

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-05-01

Please tell me this isn't MIT.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-05-01

edit: it's Boston College where yearly tuition is about k.

Cena_mark - 2012-05-01

MIT Students would be too busy studying for this crap.

Ranma X. - 2012-05-02

Oh thank god... this REALLY REALLY looks like one of the business school/history department classrooms in E51 at MIT.

This is just.... fascinating for a sociologist/cultural studies person, horrifying personally.

Xenocide - 2012-05-02

Here is a page of questions from this year's Harvard/MIT math tournament:

I'm sorry, but you can't give me a setup like that and not expect me to run to Google.

Xenocide - 2012-05-02

Well, that didn't paste correctly. Here:

sosage - 2012-05-01

00:58-01:02 doing as many lines of coke as possible ASAP

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-05-02

I wish. These guys aren't even cool enough for cocaine. They were making signs or decorating pony stickers.

Kabbage - 2012-05-02

I earnestly wonder what this is, like as a sociological phenomenon.

babachu - 2012-05-02

I wonder if this is something like extreme escapism. I would be interested to see what happens to these people when you apply stress. Maybe their minds would just snap.

Macho Nacho - 2012-05-02

Seems like really bored people who choose MLP over anime.

fourthguy - 2012-05-02

Imagine what that room must have smelled like.

CuteLucca - 2012-05-02

Why is singing such a big part of the brony phenomenon? I can't think of any other subculture where they sing ALL THE DAMN TIME.

Cena_mark - 2012-05-02

Most shows with crazy fandoms have songs in the shows. They might do a short singalong of the theme song, but that's it. MLP FIM doesn't have songs on every episode, but they do pop up here and there and the fans tend to embrace each new song as if it were a long lost Tupac.

spikestoyiu - 2012-05-02

What about those wieners that are really into Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Shoebox Joe - 2012-05-02

The show has inspired a lot of folks to become voice actors, animators and in general entertainers. Whether or not they're just in love with the showtunes. I have no problem nerding out with this show. Just not like this. I will admit singing the Smile song at home though. Addictive as hell especially since the character singing it wants to entertain.

I personally don't know what I feel about this. They're not directly out in public, so it's not that bad. But watching them DANCE to the Flim Flam brothers via Ragtime Frog, using what ever moments of sensation with jazz hands and crooning fists. It's like a casting call for Yo Gabba Gabba.

NewHeavenSalesman - 2012-05-02

Such an unfortunate convergence of bad fashion.

(1:12 is when future self of everyone in the room comes to check in on happier times)

Cena_mark - 2012-05-02

Rarity would freak out over what her fans wear.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-05-02

She wouldn't freak out what they were wearing because she wouldn't even be near that damn room unless she was desperate for money. Remember, she did dupe a nerd with no remorse what so ever.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-05-02

Not to mention that they are personally detached to what ever they're wearing, she would hope they would go away since they wouldn't give two shits about fashion in the first place.

RocketBlender - 2012-05-03

GODDAMNIT, Cena_Mark. Thanks to you I laughed at a brony joke. You go to hell.

TeenerTot - 2012-05-02

Meanwhile, the math club waits in the hall for a free classroom.

Bort - 2012-05-02

The UN General Assembly as seen through the average Teabagger's eyes.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-05-02

Not to mention that they are personally detached to what ever they're wearing, she would hope they would go away since they wouldn't give two shits about fashion in the first place.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-05-02

Damn it, was meant for the Rarity conversation.

BHWW - 2012-05-03

I love how at all of these brony meetup the refreshments table looks like it came from a "last day of school" party in a junior high classroom.
"Yeah, my mom brought plenty of chips and soda for everypony! Hooray!"
