I've been trying to find the clip from the SNL 25th anniversary special where Victoria Jackson's cameo was pretty much her going "Even though I don't have a career, I'm not a failure. I'm not. LOOK AT ME!" I can't find it and submit it, but here's the transcript http://snltranscripts.jt.org/99/25q&a.phtml

And 5 stars for a preview image that put me off dinner.

Pillager - 2012-01-02

I wouldn't call her a failure.

Obviously she can afford a pretty massive food budget.

baleen - 2012-01-02

This woman talks like her brain has been utterly ruined by cocaine or a seizure of some kind. I met a nice Glenn Beck supporter on a train who had had a brain aneurism, which makes me think that most conservative Republicans suffer from some kind of serious cognitive disorder that hasn't been diagnosed yet.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2012-01-02

When one of my close friends lost her damn mind, it was suggested that it may of been a result of her serious drinking years earlier. Could be something like that at work.

I still think it comes down to primordial instincts about belonging to one's tribe and treating outsiders as threats. I don't mean that like a snarky teenager who says "sheeple" unironically; I mean I think those instincts, if present in strong enough form, manifest themselves in a need for cohesive, homogeneous society with an unchallenged sense of order, in other words American conservatism. Those of us who don't feel those instincts particularly strongly can't understand conservatism at all, and are more prone to talk in terms of sound fiscal policy, fuel efficiency, and tolerance. To conservative ears it just sounds like we're neglecting the prime duty of protecting the tribe and are, if anything, working to dilute the tribe's strength.

This is mostly a hypothesis of last resort (since I can't think of any other way that conservatism makes sense), but I've run it past a couple recovering conservatives and they tell me it sounds about right. It even manages to explain Log Cabin Republicans: gays who cannot deal with the possibility of simply not belonging to the tribe.

Victoria Jackson grew up in a very conservative religious household, and additionally her dad used to crush her self-esteem by calling her fat.

The Townleybomb - 2012-01-02

According to that big SNL history that came out a few years ago, she's always been like this.

Also, Al Franken was a HUGE cokehead asshole.

Toenails - 2012-01-03

Wow, that's a sure strange way of spelling "is".

baleen - 2012-01-03

I met Al Franken when I worked for SNL and he seemed like a nice man. I did not know that VJ was always like this. That must have be weird. Every comedian is kind of an asshole when they're young, with cocaine or without cocaine.

Spit Spingola - 2012-01-03

I'm not totally convinced she's not Al Franken in drag.

sosage - 2012-01-02

All these years and I still can't tell if her "dumb blonde" thing is legit or a part of her act.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-01-02

Yes.

Cherry Pop Culture - 2012-01-02

Yo, Victoria! Capitalism is so great isn't it! Viewers and networks both made a choice to never see you on the t.v.!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-01-02

Capitalism = no Victoria Jackson on TV.

Corporatism = Victoria Jackson on Fox News.

Tyranny = Victoria Jackson on every network.

Hell = Being in the same room with Victoria Jackson.

Toenails - 2012-01-03

The Abyss = Gazing into Victoria Jackson's deep vaginal wall.

Hey, it's staring back at me!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-01-03

Huh. You just made me realize that when I am exposed to Victoria Jackson, concepts like "female," "vagina" or even "boobs" aren't even on the list of things that leap to mind. Whatever she's become, it's completely erased her gender for me.

Far out.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-01-02

Dear Victoria Jackson,

Please stop making me retroactively hate the Weird Al movie "UHF."

You are defiling the memory of Trinidad Silva.

charmlessman - 2012-01-02

Isn't it standard Tea Party practice to edit your videos so you DON'T look like a complete dunce?

Wait... It's Victoria Jackson. Never mind.

StanleyPain - 2012-01-03

I think the reason this wasn't really submitted was because nothing much happens. She clearly had hoped to go and get a shit ton of idiots either harassing her or acting like hippies from out of some 60s PSA about drugs or something, but wound up not really finding much to chew on, except to make shit up and act like people protesting peacefully was some kind of WHOA WAY OUT THERE AND FREAKY MAAAANNN thing.

I'm personally of the theory that she's not entirely stable, mentally speaking.

Dinanukht - 2012-01-03

This actually makes me appreciate UHF even more. Fran Drescher, Weird Al Yankovich, Michael Richards and this woman all on the same set? Should be a reality TV show.

Riskbreaker - 2012-01-03

If there is any dignity left in the tea party they should be chasing away this woman.

Chalkdust - 2012-01-03

They can't do that, she's both a token conservative celebrity AND a token conservative woman.

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-03

"Celebrity" on the same level as a Randy Quaid, mind you.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-01-03

I love how people have no idea how crazy she is due to the fact she's been invisible for 20 years.

Yes, Victoria, there is an Occupy Movement. And you can suck it.

Potter - 2012-01-03

if any one with that voice ever approached me with a camera I'd hit the fuck out of them.

dead_cat - 2012-01-06

Yes, Victoria, the wealthiest Americans create all kinds of jobs.

In China.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-01-06

I love how she doesn't really think anything through.

"I love democracy but I'm going to support moves to end democracy and ask people condescending questions about why they would be against supporting banks when I've supported the Tea Party movement which seeks to limit the power of the Fed..."

It's like she doesn't know what words mean.
