Wait. Can't openly celebrate Christmas? I'm Canadian, so I have no idea what the fuck he's talking about there. What the fuck is he talking about there?

Bootymarch - 2011-12-07

It is total bullshit. There was probably like one obscure case of it at a long island prep school or something. America's fucking nutbats about xmas.

spikestoyiu - 2011-12-07

Someone's not keeping the Christ in Christmas!

spiteful crow - 2011-12-07

Banners at Wal-Mart and the like saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

Seriously. That's what a lot of this shit is about, if Facebook chain posts are anything to go by.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-12-07

Isnt Walmart and the like the epitome of capitalism and rooted in christianity? Perry and his ilk just feel threatened that if you let all them others celebrate their holidays, who are you alienating?

animegurl1000 - 2011-12-07

Giving credence to religious holidays other than Christian ones, or taking a neutral stance towards all holidays == AN AFFRONT TO RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

Xenocide - 2011-12-07

Every year some random town somewhere in America with a population of about twelve gets in the news because they forbade someone from putting up a Nativity scene on city property (which, technically, they have to do, since such a display is unconstitutional.)

At which point conservatives blow up and declare that this proves that liberals are destroying Christmas, ignoring the countless cities and towns around the country (mine included) that look the other way and allow religious Christmas displays on city property despite it being technically illegal.

FABIO - 2011-12-08

You can imagine their reaction if the same treatment was ever given to an Islamic symbol.

"This is a CHRISTIAN nation" doesn't explain their hatred of Arab theocracies.

Tobster - 2011-12-07

Obama traded Christmas to Satan for a bunch of gays!

andybrownie - 2011-12-08

I laughed.

joelkazoo - 2011-12-08

I did, too.

memedumpster - 2011-12-07

"I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a death worshiping bigot." He has no reason to be, 50,000,000 other Americans are too.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-12-07

I'm not gay, but I'd hit that.

TeenerTot - 2011-12-08

across the face with a dead fish.

Dinkin Flicka - 2011-12-07

America's got a lot of things wrong with her, the ol' girl... I promise to end our complicity in the continuation of women's suffrage.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-12-07

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was the predatory business practices, willingness to obliterate the diplomatic procedures and the sheer luck of simply not being in Europe and thereby unavailable for a land war to mutilate our resources that made us strong, Mr. Perry. Faith didn't really have much to do with it.

The Mothership - 2011-12-07

stars go here.

Xenocide - 2011-12-07

He could probably build on that. Most of his base is very proud of not being in Europe.

America: God's Other Chosen People

Nikon - 2011-12-07

Sorry bro. You should have quoted something cooler in your speeches, like Pokemon or Sim City.

CJH - 2011-12-07

i'm not ashamed to admit i believe in the bond between a man and his deck. you don't have to be dueling arena every sunday to know there's something wrong with a president that doesn't trust in the heart of the cards.

Randroid - 2011-12-07

YOU CAN'T MAKE CHRISTMAS GAY YOU WILL REGRET THIS

The Mothership - 2011-12-07

***** and stars go here too.

Xenocide - 2011-12-07

Tough luck, Obama! Thanks to my Phantom Dragon card, you don't stand a GHOST of a chance!

Sanest Man Alive - 2011-12-09

"Texas? Only steers and queers come from Texas, and you don't look like a steer to me!"

jangbones - 2011-12-07

vile

Cheese - 2011-12-07

Obama raises funding for faith based initiatives, but is somehow engaging in a war on religion?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-12-07

He also somehow raised everyone's taxes, even though they're lower now than even under Saint Reagan. He's gutting the military even though defense spending has done nothing but go up. The list goes on, but it's not like it'll do any good to recite it.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-12-08

I fucking wish Obama was engaging in a war on religion.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-12-07

You should be ashamed of being the type of christian you are.

Ocyrus - 2011-12-07

So... his idea is to turn the U.S. into a theocracy? The Christian States of America? Please, the days of christianity are clearly numbered.

Cena_mark - 2011-12-07

My main beef with the Republicans are guys like him. Guys who insist that Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin were Sunday school teachers.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-12-07

Don't fret, Cena. The wingnuts that Texas puts on its school board are doing their best to boot Jefferson out of our textbooks.

Binro the Heretic - 2011-12-07

Wow...didn't take him long to go utterly batshit.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-12-07

Im not ashamed of being a Christian but there is something wrong with America when people serving in our military arent ashamed of being gay and then something made I made up to get idiots to think their religion is beint attacked. Also, America isnt great because of hardwork and dedication. We just wished it to be good.

CJH - 2011-12-07

you're drunk

Cena_mark - 2011-12-07

The War on Christmas is a very popular issue among right wing idiots. Bill O'reilly gets on his high horse about it every year. How dare we try to include Hanukkah. I've still never met a person who actually celebrates Kwanzaa.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-12-07

Christmas is just a cheapened Yule anyway. There should be a Pagan uprising trying to take back Christmas from the Judeo-Christ beast. I would love to see how they would react.

Cena_mark - 2011-12-07

I think such a movement will occur. The country is becoming more and more secular, but it still loves Christmas.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-12-07

People love gifts, drinking, eating, time off from work, sports on TV, not having to leave the house, and consuming?

Color me surprised.

Pompoulus - 2011-12-07

Luckily being Christian isn't even really on the list of things Rick Perry should be ashamed of.

Cena_mark - 2011-12-07

I'd describe this desperate commercial as a Hail Mary pass, but he's a fundie not a Catholic.

Pillager - 2011-12-07

Texas is the reason

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-12-07

I love Christians who think because one person said "no thanks" to their bullshit they think they're some oppressed minority.

Vaidency - 2011-12-07

Another thing Rick Perry is clearly not ashamed of is bearing false witness, because I don't believe for one second that he actually thinks the president is prosecuting a "war on religion."

Redford - 2011-12-07

As of this posting, the video is at 1,476 likes, 62,319 dislikes. I don't think Youtube is a good place to be looking for devout bible thumpers who dislike an entire sexual orientation because a book says it's wrong.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-12-07

Sure it is. There are loads where there's virtually no dissent and the video is extolled for "telling the truth" or something like it.

The problem here is that the Perry campaign actually (1) left voting open and (2) people other than the nutballs he's trying to target found it.

At least they had the good sense to turn off the comments, but I would have loved to see what would have been posted.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-12-08

Check his user page. They didn't turn off comments there, and they're almost universally negative.

Rudy - 2011-12-08

This is an ad being run in Iowa. Only a few of us have heard of this "you tube". But most of us know that homos are to clearly to blame for everything bad happening in this country.

FreeOJ - 2011-12-08

I lul'd at the fist clench at the end

Supahfly - 2011-12-08

After he complained about gays in the military I thought it was a parody ad. Surely a man running for president wouldn't say that in a commercial.

Surely.

TeenerTot - 2011-12-08

I honestly don't understand that. He's mad that gays can serve openly. Why? What's the horrible consequence of that?

Corpus Delectable - 2011-12-08

I know that evil is banal, but now it's stupid, too?

Whatever, Evil. Keep up the good work.
