I like how the President handled the interruption. As much as I've disagreed with him, he really is a classy guy.
You just don't Mic check the President like that.
They act like those 4000 protesters are still in prison. They've all been released. This is not Iran.

Anaxagoras - 2011-11-24

Of course you mic check the president like that. You do it *exactly* like that. The President is just another U.S. citizen. Treating him like royalty misses the point of the American Revolution.

Old_Zircon - 2011-11-23

Saying very little very prettily since day one.

Old_Zircon - 2011-11-23

Obama, I mean.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-11-24

The WH pretty much came out and admitted they were waiting to see how OWS polled nationwide before taking even a tenuous position. So much for even pretending to be populist. Screw Obama, and screw the 2006 Congress.

Hooker - 2011-11-23

OWS is a plot to re-elect Obama.

Randroid - 2011-11-23

Which is followed by anti-capitalist pogroms and Obama claiming the title People's Commissar of Idaho.

baleen - 2011-11-23

Anybody happen to read that rightwing viral of the mortgage broker woman melting down and blaming the Marxist Dictatorship of Obama for the collapse of futures trading?

Simillion - 2011-11-23

Maybe in his second and therefore last term he won't be so concerned about everyone liking him and he'll do something/more.

baleen - 2011-11-23

Obama's Blunder is essentially that he tried to carve away a sizable block of independent moderates from the ruins of the GOP. It failed. If he hadn't tried to do this, he would be blamed for not trying to address the needs of independent moderates who were formerly in the GOP. So get over it, everybody. If Ron Paul runs as an independent, this country is fucked on the state level.

"Let's carpet bomb Iran!"

Hooker - 2011-11-23

Yeah, everyone. Shut up and embrace the machine. Woo for bombing! Woo for torture! Woo meaningless choice between two corrupt parties of which neither represents your interests!

memedumpster - 2011-11-23

Obama didn't blunder, he got exactly what his handlers demanded.

Void 71 - 2011-11-23

What's to say that Iran won't be bombed under a second Obama admin? They're already using section 311 of the PATRIOT Act to isolate Iran from the rest of the world's financial markets. Forgetting for a moment that Obama never 'revisit(ed) the PATRIOT Act to ensure that there is real and robust oversight' (one of many broken promises), America is now using it to threaten any country that does business with Iran.

The United Nations is also threatening Iran with sanctions. The rest of the Middle East is threatening Iran with sanctions. Iran's been very aggressive in meddling with non-Shiite countries. They should be isolated for being brutal fascists and for trying to build nuclear weapons, and for funding Syria, and for funding Baathist paramilitary groups in Iraq that have killed both Americans and Iraqi civilians alike. Talk to people that live in Iran, young people in particular. It's hell. They need a revolution and we should help them, without having to carpet bomb them! The GOP candidates, with the exception of Huntsman and Ron Paul, have all made it clear that invasion is not out of the question. Many of them want us to stay in Iraq.

Obama has no intention of starting a war with Iran. I have gotten into numerous arguments about Libya as well. The cynical Left predicted that Obama would invade Libya. Oh no! They cried, the Taliban and al Qaeda are the rebels and we're just helping them! Interesting that the same people were against even acknowledging the EXISTENCE of al Qaeda as an international terrorist network when we invaded Afghanistan, now all the sudden they are taking over Libya.

Again, a lot of what you're complaining about is the realpolitik of post-9/11 America. Catch any GOP debates? Obama is in a tenuous situation as he tries to balance interventionism against isolationism, involvement with foreign autocracies with bringing our interests home. I don't envy him. I also don't live in a world where a President can talk like Ron Paul and expect to change policy, let alone get reelected. The GOP built up a firewall of fascism in this country that's going to take YEARS to dismantle. You want the Nuremburg trials, well good luck with that.

I know this seems like I'm defending Obama across the board. I'm as displeased that he didn't install the Nordic Model of Market Socialism within 3 Years as anybody else, but I'm also a cold realist. Read the two most interesting pieces of political analysis I've read in a while to get an idea of where I'm coming from.

Jonathan Chait's "Why are Liberals so Unreasonable?"
http://nymag.com/news/politics/liberals-jonathan-chait-2011-11 /

and David Frum's "When Did the GOP Lose Touch with Reality?"
http://nymag.com/news/politics/conservatives-david-frum-2011-11/

memedumpster - 2011-11-24

It's extremely dangerous to assume liberals don't also have fascist tendencies. You post an article by a self professed "Obama apologist" as if the reaction to that should somehow be different than when the Teabaggers do that with their own pundits. The reality is that both parties suck out loud and the terms "liberal" and "conservative" refer to mythological creatures who don't exist. His argument is that "liberals" don't like Obama because they can't feel satisfaction, it's almost like a bro talking about feminism.

This is Cena Mark levels of trolling, I fucking hope, because this article fails at the exploration of Obama's foreign policies of using the CIA as his private army and the threat of kicking off a new Cold War with Russia over the goddamned missile shield to nowhere.

I'm starting to see that Republicans are just Democrats who can't articulate their lying ass bullshit as well.

Hooker - 2011-11-24

Can you understand how "Where should we spend our military dollars?" is a false choice, baleen? If you let the establishment pick the questions, you're not going to see change.

Hooker - 2011-11-24

Oh, and for what it's worth, I was never on the Obama bandwagon. I infuriated all my friends in 2008 because of it.

I don't point this out to talk about myself, but to point out that people that are dissatisfied with Obama today are not necessarially people that were up on his nuts three years ago.

Helena Handbasket - 2011-11-23

Five for handling this pleasantly. This is OWS New Hampshire's plan it seems. The same supposedly happened to Ron Paul in my town just the other day.

zerobackup - 2011-11-23

Goddamn he is classy. Bush would have just chuckled softly as his security team cleared out anyone who was yelling.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-11-24

He didn't run away like Bachmann, he didn't shout "NO YOURE NOT!" over and over like Rove, he just stood and listened respectfully. Really great stuff.

joelkazoo - 2011-11-25

THAT'S how you do it!
