So is this considered a legitimate lifestyle choice now?

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2011-10-05

God, I hope not. These people need to stay confined to their basements...

Kilo147 - 2011-12-22

These people need to stay confined to work camps.

Arbecht Macht Frei!

Cena_mark - 2011-10-05

Makes me embarrassed to even be the same species as these guys. And some of you wonder why I hate these guys so much. I've always hated nerds, weeaboos, dorks, and dweebs, but bronies have taken nerding to a whole new level.
I swear watching this raised my blood pressure to new levels. 5 stars for pure boiled down evil.

augias - 2011-10-05

Reminder that you are a fan of pro wrestling

Cena_mark - 2011-10-05

Reminder, I've never gone to a pizza hut giggling like a 3 year old girl, and asking the employees there to draw a wrestler on the box.

Abstract Fainter - 2011-10-05

In the land of pony-men* the man with dragon pants is king.

*or whatever

Xenocide - 2011-10-05

Just a reminder to everyone that Cena's Youtube channel consists of nothing but Pony videos.

Cena_mark - 2011-10-05

Uh, really... http://www.youtube.com/user/Cenamark2

RocketBlender - 2011-10-05

Being the free spirited liberal treehugging douchebag I am, I'm usually all for fucking with this tea-bagger, but even I'll admit that that one time Cena's poetv comment was pretty close to a YouTube one is pretty weak evidence that it's his account.

It merely means his sense of humor is on par with the YouTube community's.

Candlejackv616 - 2011-10-05

Cause the girl at the Pizza Hut doesn't already work in the shitty, sometimes soul crushing field of fast food, you gotta ask her and her colleagues to draw pony's on the boxes too?

FUCK YOU! fuck you hard. I hate hate HATE when people make ludicrous requests of fast food employees that usually involves them going out of there way to do, that they don't have to do, but either a manager or fear of losing their crap jobs compels them to do smfh.

p.s.

Meatlovers pizza...that sounds about right.

chumbucket - 2011-10-05

I was hoping they'd have a huge line of impatient people behind them to really start giving them a hard time over the public idiocy. Hope they tipped....probably not.

fatatty - 2011-10-05

As much as I hate everything about these people, the girls behind the counter were clearly enjoying themselves. The girl drawing the ponies was probably happy to be able to get paid to doodle.

I agree with you in principle, but not all stupid requests are annoying, and this one seemed to make them happy.

Candlejackv616 - 2011-10-05

@Fatatty: you know what, fair enough as she did seem to take it in stride and wasn't really cross over it. you know what gets to me though? its the fact say she would have found it to be a chore and really annoying, those guys probably would have chided her on over and over till she did it just to shut them up, and that's just sad. its sad to know that I bet they have annoyed people to that level with their crap one way or another and really, who should have to deal with that at work?

The modern consumer is annoying enough as is, now they have to define themselves by a singular cartoon and shove it down your throat as to justify what they, if they really weren't insecure to some extent about, wouldn't have to shove it in everyone's faces. Judging from every Brony vid so far on this site, that's precisely that case.

I like lots of what would be considered nerdy stuff, but I never felt the need to act out on it the way they do and define themselves so hardcore about. Part of me does feel some pity for them, but then another part of me gets pissed because you dont have to be handsome, super intelligent or rich to have meaningful social interactions and healthy social life...gah.

fatatty - 2011-10-05

Agreed. Most people are nerdy about something, but you don't have to make it the center of your life or shove it down other people's throats. If you can't ignore your nerdy passions enough to have an actual conversation with people about the rest of life then you should just stay in your house.

And I am sure these people annoy the fuck out of most people, which is definitely their goal, thus 5 stars for annoyingly evil.

EvilHomer - 2011-10-05

I can't imagine what kind of asshole you'd have to be to film fast food employees drawing ponies on your food. That said, I'd be fine filming that pizza girl taking off her shirt and dancing around for me. She's a total fox, rrrrowwwrrr!

RocketBlender - 2011-10-05

@fatatty
Some people can't help but let their neediness ruin their life. I'll never forget one kid I knew in highschool. Anyone whose seen me post here no doubt knows I'm a huge fucking video game nerd, and this kid managed to annoy me because he'd never talk about anything else.

I'll never forget it: I had to tell him once to put his gameboy away and stop poking me with his link cable during an unexpected free period. Why? I was trying to watch the news, as Fucking 9/11 had just happened!

Never really talked to him after that day, unless I was mocking him.

Candlejackv616 - 2011-10-05

@RoketBlender: yeah I had one of those people. last year I was part of an organization thats kinda of like a work force development program for people ages 18 to 24, barely made it in as i was about to turn 25 before they said yes to me entering.

now they train in both tech and financial operations and then after 6months you get put into a internship with one of many company's they have a deal with ( i interned a GE doing IT Security, fun but slightly boring), i chose tech due to 1. yes im nerdy and 2. didn't like the idea of interning at a bank like most finance people.

my first day of doing tech work/studies my class gets paired off into partners for a exercise. I have the tremendous luck of being paired off with a lovely young girl named kimberly...kimberly noticed i have a Nintendo related product on and from then on could not only talk about games to me, but talked about them while simultaneously not knowing a damn thing about these games, it was like that skit in UCB with the guy in the video store!

it all came to a head when she followed me as we broke for lunch and asked me had i ever played mass effect, so i said yeah its one of my favorite new rpg franchises...to my horror she started talking about how she writes mass effect fan fiction, specifically about an alien race that mixes the krogans and asari. one thing she felt the need to go into great detail about was their sexual habits and genitals...!

Needless to say after that day I found every excuse possible to avoid her, as did everyone else in my class she found out liked gaming. of course she had this great and healthy habit of locking in on any conversation one could be having, and holy hell if you even mentioned games in passing she would awkwardly interrupt and just shit all over the convo.

whats great was you didn't even have to be talking about games, just could come up like "hey what you do last night?" "played some L4D, then read a book and went to bed" and BAM! she was right in that convo!...my favorite was her out of no where talking about final fantasy and trying to figure out why creatures leave behind money, in a dead serious way...yup, at least it let me know to never ever bring up anywhere near her that i like me some FF here and there.

the best thing she ever did was inspire a dance that other classmates would do called "the kimberly" based around her spastic hand gestures and constant usage of "yeah!" at the end of practically every sentence :)

pastorofmuppets - 2011-10-05

should have just whipped it out brah

Candlejackv616 - 2011-10-06

you would never EVER whip it out for that face, its the stuff of nightmares.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-06

Yeesh, the ones that think they're writers are always the worst.

It's funny, really. Every guy I know (myself included, a long time ago) THINKS they want to date a girl gamer/nerd/whatever you want to call them, but that's only because you don't know better.

Once they ignore you for weeks at a time for their WoW habit, dance in the middle of a gamestore for all the other nerds because someone mentioned Zelda casually, or buy another box set of anime DVDs with all the 'extra money this month' before you have a chance to buy the fucking groceries, you're more than willing to let the next unfortunate nerd who has no idea what they're in for take them. She won't care about the breakup because now she's found a guy who actually read her Sephiroth and Yuffie fanfic and appreciates her talent, and you won't care because you just got your life back.

My wife's enthusiasm for my gaming hobby can best be described as 'tolerance'. There's a few games she enjoys, and every now and then something like Uncharted comes out and she'll watch the whole game for the story while I play, but beyond that she's not interested and keeps me doing other things with her. It's worked out perfectly for ages now, and has certainly made me a more rounded person.

Ghoul - 2011-10-05

Is this "brony" fad some crazy internet guerrilla marketing ploy? I know a lot of geeks, and not one of them defines themselves by a cartoon that they watch. This needs to end.

5 stars just because.

fatatty - 2011-10-05

I have an old high school friend who's been collecting My Little Ponies for about 6 years now, long before this fad started. So, this phenomenon is real and grassroots, not a marketing ploy.

As with furries (which definitely has some crossover), I blame the internet for letting these people find others like them and thinking this is socially acceptable behavior.

And friends like me who can't bring themselves to denounce their friend's horrifying lifestyle choice.

Knaaks - 2011-10-05

I had a friend like 10 years ago that was really in to customizing MLP figures, and also in to horror make-up and effects, so she would always make ponies with their guts hanging out and stuff.
THESE shitheads are just doing it for attention, LOOK I LIKE A CARTOON FOR GIRLS ISN'T THAT FUNNY, and bullshit like that. Basically, a buncha dudes on the internet decided it would be hilarious if they pretended to like the new show, and when people made fun of them for it, they used the classic trolling technique, pretending to be incredibly nice to the person making fun of them, and saying stuff like "It's cool if you don't like it, but you should really give it a chance!" and stuff like that, which in turn, tricked a bunch of weak-minded fools in to pretending to like a cartoon for 5 year old girls because the internet told them to. It's really quite brilliant, if you think about it.

Xenocide - 2011-10-05

Ghoul: If you don't know anyone who defines themselves by a cartoon they watch, then you don't really know a lot of geeks.

I do like how bronies have reached the point where people are concocting conspiracy theories about them, though. Occam's Razor, folks. Sometimes people just like things too much.

Riskbreaker - 2011-10-05

This is an obvious commie plot in full effect, our precious bodily fluids have been contaminated with tap water that has been making young people autistic. Maybe the vaccine people are right after all.

badideasinaction - 2011-10-05

For most bronies, they're freaking out for the same reason most people scream on roller coasters - it's more fun if you carry on like an idiot. Not my thing, but knowing a few people who are self-described bronies, there's the understanding that they're treating it like it's awesome because treating it like it's awesome is fun, not the show. Then there's the 5% who really believe it and that's kinda sad.

Not my thing but hey, to each their own I guess if they're not being raging morons in public.

EvilHomer - 2011-10-05

There's TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES of this shit?!?

spikestoyiu - 2011-10-05

Why was this recorded?

Why is it twenty-five minutes long?

Why is everyone so ugly?

Why does this thing seem so forced?

pastorofmuppets - 2011-10-05

Given how little society values ugly people, if they want friends they have to seek out other misfits.

You'd think they'd offer each other approval, but they don't know what it looks like. So their group bonds over a kind of mild, constant hazing where the individual is humiliated for the sake of friendship, plus they probably get all spergy about backwards comic books, pulp horror from the 20s, and, if they're really in too deep, musical theater.

This is why a person should shave, shower, and exercise, or failing that, learn to play guitar.

pastorofmuppets - 2011-10-05

also it seems forced because social anxiety interrupts their thoughts in a way that prevents them from learning the back-and-forth rhythm that casual human interaction requires

Squeamish - 2011-10-05

At what point is the waitstaff allowed to headbutt back?

M-DEEM - 2011-10-05

"We're the super-friends!"

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2011-10-05

The kid on the bike at 1:20 who yells out "NERDS!" as he bikes past them gives me hope for the future.

Cena_mark - 2011-10-05

I missed that when I watched it. Thanks for catching that, It gave me hope as well.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-06

I didn't actually make it that far into the video to see it. Once they started singing I quit out of shame. Rewatched just for that.
Knew I was hanging onto these stars for something.

Hay Belly - 2011-10-05

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-10-05

Listen to all of you. Why don't we just go ahead and change this site's name from POETV to Bronies in Denial Support Group?

charmlessman - 2011-10-05

My girlfriend has this annoying habit of pinching my nipples to annoy me. I try to play it cool or ignore it, but in all honesty, if I let it fly, I'd probably explode and make her cry because I fucking hate it.

She also watches My Little Pony.

She asked me last night what it would take to get me to watch it with her. I told her she never gets to tweak my nipples to annoy me (had to add that part because sometimes it's not annoying) EVER AGAIN. She agreed.

She's convinced I'll become a Bronie once I watch it.

I will show her this video and she will understand why I will NEVER be a Bronie.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-05

I've seen a couple episodes. It can't compare with adventure time or a Disney movie (the ones they put effort into, that is), but it's way less painful for a parent than a lot of the children's shows out there.

Xenocide - 2011-10-05

I don't know why people like Charmlessman's girlfriend have decided that if you watch the show and enjoy it, that instantly makes you a brony. Just like it's possible to like Star Wars without being part of the Jedi religion, it's possible to like this cartoon without basing your life around it.

It's one of the few animated shows out there that actually runs on clever cartoon logic instead of lazy pop culture jokes and fart gags. No way I'm passing that up just because the internet decided to be neckbeardy about it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-10-05

That woman is WAY too good for you.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-06

You've got a good point, Xeno.

I'm going to sound really old here, but here goes: My favorite thing about it is that it's safe. I think regular show is hilarious, but I wouldn't let my daughter watch it, or really half the other shows on cartoon network which I swear are actually targeted at me anyway.

I can watch my little pony without getting horribly bored, and I can let her watch it on her own without worrying that she's going to learn how to tell someone to piss off, take the paint off their car with lunchmeat, etc.

And yeah, I know how old I sound praising that show because it's healthy for kids, but I swear someday you guys will look at stuff like this too.

Except for CN.

charmlessman - 2011-10-05

That server seemed awful chipper when she saw them. But then again, she's paid to be.

Pause at 6:40 for her true feelings.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-05

Work any job in retail or foodservice a week and you'll be a professional actor.

Fuck Hollywood, I should have earned a golden globe/Grammy/been knighted for every time I held a conversation with a member of the Texas country club I used to work for.

White Trash Party - 2011-10-05

I have no idea how she kept a straight face. I believe they enjoyed it since it's obviously slow in there and having something to laugh over made their shift faster I'm sure.

That being said it's odd to feel embarrassed for a group of people I've never met.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2011-10-05

To all the Vanguards Of The Proletariat around here: Weird shit like this breaks up the mindless boring day of jobs like this.

Old_Zircon - 2011-10-06

Moments like these are the only parts I have any memory of from my time working in retail when I was younger. Everything else was just a blur of repetition.

Riskbreaker - 2011-10-05

Good lord, i would never imagine all the debates this would cause. Stars for you guys.

Candlejackv616 - 2011-10-06

*****
Stars for you sir, stars for you.

Old_Zircon - 2011-10-06

Sometimes the internet leaks.

pastorofmuppets - 2011-10-07

you win.

joelkazoo - 2011-10-06

I've never watched this show, but I do know some bronies, and not all of them are pathetic attention whores...but a vast majority of them are.

Nikon - 2011-10-06

These people need to tone it down a lot.

hichief - 2011-10-08

Did that kid bicycling by scream out "Nerd"?

Gwago - 2011-10-12

Magic: The Gathering wants nothing to do with you idiots.

Also, someone please tell me they're trolling the guy who actually gave out his NUMBER WITH AREA CODE
